Introduction
Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine tackles some of the world’s most urgent health threats through research that protects communities from infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, climate-related health risks and disease outbreaks.
For more than 125 years, we have been at the forefront of global health research, from developing treatments for tropical diseases to responding to emerging epidemics. Today, we focus our efforts on four interconnected challenges that threaten health security worldwide.
Our teams combine laboratory science, field studies and community partnerships to deliver solutions where they are needed most. Whether we are tracking drug-resistant infections in sub-Saharan Africa, understanding how climate change affects vector-borne diseases, or strengthening outbreak preparedness in vulnerable regions, we turn scientific discovery into practical interventions that save lives.
