What will I learn?

You’ll study six 20-credit taught modules and complete a 40-credit dissertation for the MSc. PGDip and PGCert options are also available.

This is a flexible, part-time course delivered entirely online. Most content is on-demand, so you can access materials and complete assessments to fit with your own schedule.

You’ll engage with recorded lectures, online resources, collaborative discussions and tutor support through a personalised virtual learning environment (VLE).

Each 20-credit module involves around 200 hours of study. You can complete the MSc in two to five years, depending on your circumstances. 

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Critically analyse health inequalities and the global burden of disease.
  • Use public health data and evidence to influence policy and practice.
  • Lead and manage change in health systems and development programmes.
  • Apply social, political and ethical frameworks to global health challenges.
  • Design and evaluate global health interventions in diverse contexts.

You might go into:

  • Global health consultancy and programme management.
  • Health systems improvement and service design.
  • Advocacy, research and education.

You’ll be ready to work with NGOs, academic institutions and public health agencies worldwide, including the UN and WHO.

Entry requirements

Academic

An undergraduate degree in a health-related or relevant discipline.

We also welcome applications from other fields.

Professional

At least one year of work or voluntary experience in health or related sectors.

English language

IELTS 6.5 overall, minimum 5.5 in all components (or equivalent).
