Our Diploma in Travel Health will support you to confidently assess, advise and manage travel health needs. Developed in partnership with the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC), the course combines flexible online delivery with evidence-based learning and practical tools.

What will I learn?
There are four compulsory modules:
- Travel Vaccination Principles and Practice.
- Malaria Prevention in Travel Health.
- Hazards in Travel Health.
- Governance and Safety in Travel Health.
To be awarded the diploma, you must complete assessments for all four modules. You also need to pass a multiple choice (MCQ) exam and an online structured knowledge exam (OSKE).
This is a modular, online course. It can be studied flexibly over 6-24 months.
- Each module runs for 3-4 weeks.
- Study 10-15 hours per week at your own pace.
- Content includes video lectures, group activities, discussion forums and reflective tasks
You can access all content on-demand using your personalised virtual learning environment (VLE), with peer collaboration and tutor support throughout.
- Conduct detailed travel health risk assessments and consultations.
- Recommend vaccines and antimalarials based on current guidance.
- Understand key hazards and offer practical prevention advice.
- Use online tools to prepare patient group directions (PGDs).
- Apply good governance and safety in your clinical decision making.
- Travel clinics and general practice.
- Public and private sector health services.
- Remote expedition medicine, humanitarian health, or global health programmes.
The programme is aligned with Royal College of Nursing core competencies and supports professional development and employment in travel health.

We have scholarships, bursaries, discounts and loans available for UK and international students, established through generous donations from alumni, staff and friends and funding from within Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Postgraduate loans
Loans for eligible UK students studying a taught or research Master’s course are available from the Student Loans Company. These loans will be a contribution towards the costs associated with completing a Postgraduate Masters course
External Funding
Scholarships, fellowships and grants are available from a range of funders and organisations. Any scholarship, studentship, fellowship or grant can be used as an alternative to, or part-funding of, an LSTM scholarship.
