More sources of funding

Scholarships, fellowships and grants are available from a range of different providers.

These include:

  • The Wellcome Trust funds research to improve life, health and wellbeing through new knew knowledge and understanding. This includes discovery research, climate and health, infectious disease and mental health.
  • Medical Research Council (MRC) funds world-leading discovery and translational research to accelerate diagnosis, advance treatment and prevent human illness.
  • British Council highlights funding options for international students undertaking postgraduate study in the UK, including the GREAT Scholarships, Chevening Scholarships and Commonwealth Scholarships.
  • The British Academy distributes funding to support UK and international academic research, career development and wider engagement in the form of project grants and individual fellowships.
  • Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust Postgraduate Bursaries are available to full-time postgraduates who are related to or employed by a commercial pharmacist.
  • The Foulkes Foundation Fellowships are available to post-doctoral scientists wishing to undertake a medical degree to make a significant contribution to medical research.
  • The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (RSTMH) Early Career Grants Programme offers £5000 to support early career researchers to carry out their first piece of research into tropical medicine or global health.
  • Snowden Trust Snowden Master’s Scholarships offer up to £30,000 to support exceptional disabled students through their master’s studies and into leadership, to be visible role models and drive disability inclusion.
