Sustainable Innovation in Global Health Technology (SIGHT)
2023 – 2025
The challenge
Traditional technology transfer models can struggle to turn global health research into sustainable, high-impact interventions. Longstanding barriers can make it hard to bring university innovation to the market in ways that deliver real-world benefit.
About the project
SIGHT brought together infectious disease and public health expertise from three specialist higher education providers: LSTM, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and Brighton and Sussex Medical School. We worked in collaboration with innovation experts at Oxentia.
The project aimed to develop and pilot a shared technology transfer and venture-building model tailored to global health research. Our focus was on unlocking the economic and public health value from the combined R&D portfolios of the three institutions.
