Overview

This one-day short-course provides an intensive update on the morphology and diagnostic aspects of all human malaria species, trypanosomiasis, leishmaniasis and filariasis. It is ideal preparation for the Royal College of Pathologists’ morphology exams for haematology trainees and as a refresher course for consultants.

The course has received CPD approval by The Royal College of Pathologists for six CPD credits. Medical professionals and clinical scientists registered with any of the Royal Colleges for CPD will be eligible to earn CPD credits for attendance.

Most of the course involves microscopy, with a high tutor-to-participant ratio, and there are also demonstrations and short presentations by specialist staff.

Course content

  • Hands-on training: morphological identification of parasites using a microscope.
  • Malaria: recognition of parasites.
