Professor Stanley Luchters
Professor in Population Health and Environment at LSTM and Executive Director of CeSHHAR in Zimbabwe, focuses on sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and the impacts of climate change on health in Africa, with over 20 years’ experience leading international research and implementation projects.
Professor Euphemia Sibanda
Euphemia Sibanda is an epidemiologist based at the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV AIDS Research Zimbabwe, where she is Deputy Executive Director (Science).
Dr Ewan Tomeny
Dr Tomeny’s research focuses on strengthening health systems in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in fragile and shock-prone settings, especially those increasingly affected by the impacts of climate change.
Climate and Health Africa Conference
Partners at the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research in Zimbabwe convened the first Climate and Health Africa Conference in October 2024; bringing together over 400 health leaders and delegates from across 30 African nations, to discuss how to combat the detrimental health effects of climate change and improve the well-being of African populations. The landmark event led to the Harare Declaration on Climate and Health in Africa, a continent-wide framework for research and action.
